Mangaluru, Oct 12: On account of International Day for the Girl Child, October 11, the boys of class 11 and 12 of Lourdes Central School (LCS), here organised a special celebration in honour of the girl child.
The programme began with a devotional prayer by the boys of class 12.
Speaking on the importance of the day, Fr Robert D’Souza, principal stated that LCS is proud to have more girls than boys as part of their faculty and student body. Addressing the boys, he appreciated them for taking on the initiative to organise the meaningful celebration. He further advised the boys to always respect girls and women and appreciated the sacrifice done by the women.
The boys of class 11 and 12 spoke on topics such as 'Respecting Women' and the 'Women Achievers'.
The programme ended with a pleasant song by the boy band titled 'Scars to your beautiful' dedicated to all the girls of Lourdes. In conclusion, the theme of the assembly, 'Giving women the respect that befits their role' was reiterated.
Ishaan Bhat of class XII compered the programme.
Vice principal Belita Mascarenhas, ISA co-ordinators Henry Mascarenhas and Harshitha Shetty, ISA activity co-ordinator Anitha Thomas, parent representatives, staff and student were present at the programme.
