Bengaluru, Oct 13: It is gathered that the resignation letter tendered by BSP leader and minister for primary and secondary education, N Mahesh, has been kept pending by the chief minister (CM), H D Kumaraswamy. Before forwarding it to the Governor with recommendation, the CM wants to speak to BSP national president, Mayawati, to dissuade her from asking the minister belonging to her party to leave the cabinet.
Kumaraswamy also plans to speak to Mahesh in an effort to change his mind on the issue. Mahesh's resignation came after Mayawati announced that BSP would not be part of any alliance with which Congress party is associated.
BSP and JD(S) had entered into an electoral understanding before the assembly poll, and a ministerial berth was given to the lone MLA from that party in Karnataka after the election. The CM wants to convince Mayawati and Mahesh that BSP can continue in the government as a part of JD(S). It is said that former Prime Minister, H D Deve Gowda, also might throw his weight behind this issue.
