Mangaluru, Oct 15: The three-day Dasara celebrations at Mangaluru International Airport began on Monday, October 15, as part of the national festival celebrations in airports across the country.
Mangaluru International Airport director V V Rao inaugurated the auspicious event by lighting the lamp. AAI Kalyanmayee Association (Mangaluru unit) president Sujana Rao, joint general managers Abraham Koshi and Ambarish, DGM Finance Vishwanath were other dignitaries present.
"Airport Authority of India has made it a tradition to celebrate every national festival in all airports across India. For Mangaluru Airport this is the second Dasara celebration. Now entire Mangaluru is in festive mood. We want our passengers to experience this festive mood from the airport itself. We arranged a three day programme with the cooperation of all the airline agencies and various departments of the Airport. Personally, I want to convey my Dasara wishes to all the passengers and their family members who are using the Mangaluru Airport,” said V V Rao in his inaugural address.
Bharatanatyam performance by Harsha Sanjay Bhadari from Srinivas College and saxophone concert by Ravindra Mulki were the special cultural attractions on the first day. Payyannur Jayan, Prakash, Deepak Ullal, Sathish and Sathish Bannaje were other musicians who performed in the saxophone concert.
The three days celebrations include tiger dance from Polali tiger dance troupe, cultural activities from the students of Karavali College and airport staff.
