New Delhi, Nov 10: As investigating agencies try to unearth links between Malegaon and Nanded blasts, the CBI has said that it has already filed chargesheet against nine people in the Nanded blast and it could file supplementary chargesheets in case new facts crop up.
A senior CBI official said that so far there has been only "informal" interaction with the ATS which is probing the September 29 Malegaon blast.
"A team went there but it has now returned. While there is no direct evidence yet to prove this, we are not ruling out the possibility of the blasts at Nanded and Malegaon being executed by the same people," a senior CBI official said.
The agency said it will offer all possible help to the ATS in solving the Malegaon case. Sources said the ATS was looking for more than 50 people who were apparently imparted arms training in a Nagpur military school.
The central agency is looking at the possibility of some of these men being involved in both the blasts. Mysteriously, a laptop said to belong to Lt Col Purohit, has disappeared. The laptop is said to contain the names of these people.
In New Delhi, CBI director Ashwini Kumar said that the agency was looking into links between the Malegaon and Nanded blasts. "There is a possible link between Nanded and Malegaon blasts. We are probing it," he said and added that the accused arrested by Maharashtra's Anti-Terrorism Squad may be questioned.
Sources said some of those arrested by the ATS had told investigators about having been in touch with those held in Nanded by the CBI.
