Mangaluru: Man from Mumbai abducted, robbed of Rs 15 lac

Mangaluru, Oct 27: As per a complaint filed in Urwa police station here, a person who came to the city from Mumbai was kidnapped in an Innova car and robbed of Rs 15 lac.

The complainant, Manjunath Ganapati Palankar, had arrived from Mumbai at 12.20 pm on October 23 by a private bus. He had alighted at Ladyhill bus stand. When he was trying to cross the road, two persons came there and forcibly made him to get seated in a Toyota Innova car. Four persons were already seated inside the car. He was forced to bend after which blows were delivered to his back, shoulders etc besides raining abuses. A person who was seated in the front seat claimed himself to be an assistant commissioner of police. Manjnath was then led in the car via Kuntikan and Kavoor to about a kilometre ahead of Bajpe. As soon as they got a deserted stretch of the road, the kidnappers robbed Rs 15 lac in cash and a bag containing two cellphones from him. The car was driven for some more distance before he was dumped outside, the complainant stated.

Urwa police, who have registered a case, are investigating.
