Mangalore: Tanvi Rao to be Awarded by Governor on Children's Day

Mangalore, Nov 13: B H Tanvi Rao, a fifth standard student of St Agnes Higher Primary School Mangalore and daughter of B G Hariprasad Rao and Swarnagowri Rao, is a youngster with tremendous talent.  She has the talent to beautifully choreograph her own dances and has been appreciated by a good number of people, including stalwarts.

Tanvi started learning Bharatnatyam at the age of five and later, started to choreograph dances like folk and filmy ones on her own. On the 50th Karnataka Rajyotsava Celebrations, she choreographed two dances for Kannada poems and performed. She had also presented a CD of her performance to the then President of India Dr A P J Abdul Kalam and won his appreciation and blessings in writing. Her special talent in this sector has won her accolades from great personalities like Aishwarya Rai, Madhuri Dixit, Suresh Wadkar, Udit Narayan, Sanjay Sawant (Guru of  past Indian Idol Abhijeet Sawant), Pandit Jaikishen Maharaj (dance choreographer for Madhuri Dixit in Dil to Pagal Hai and son of Pandit Birju Maharaj) etc.

She has also won national-level dance competitions organized by Mumbai Doordarshan when she was eight years of age and in Delhi Doordarshan when she was six. She will be receiving the state-level award on the occasion of Children's Day from the Karnataka governor.

Her Bharatnatyam Rangapravesha is scheduled to take place on November 22 this year. The recognition accorded for her talent by the government of Karnataka on the occasion of the Children's Day this year, is one more feather in her cap.
