Kundapur, Nov 1: “Karnataka Rajyotsava which has its own culture and significance in the country is important for Kannadigas. It is a day to remember the sacrifices of those who worked for the independence of the country and unity of the state,” said Kundapur sub division assistant commissioner T Bhoobalan.
He was giving away his message after hoisting national and state flags as part of Rajyotsava celebrations in Kundapur Gandhi maidan on Thursday, November 1.
“Great leaders including Aloor Venkatarao, Kengal Hanumatayya, Kuvempu, Karnad Sadashiva Rao of undivided Dakshina Kannada district, Govinda Pai and Shivarama Karanth have flown the flag of Kannada to greater heights. Let us work for all round development of Karnataka remembering their achievements and sacrifices,” he said.
Kundapur tahsildar Thippeswamy, taluk panchayat executive Kiran Pednekar, Kundapur sub division DySP B P Dinesh Kumar, municipal council chief officer K Gopalakrishna Shetty, officers Raghavendra Varnekar, Kusumaker Shetty and others were present.
Cultural programme by Ganesh Gangolli and team, and students of various schools attracted the gathering.

“Sincere efforts are in progress at government level to make Kannada mandatory in all government departments to encourage Kannada. Let us work for the all-round progress of the land together with love of land and patriotism,” said T Bhoobalan.
