Mangaluru, Nov 1: A programme on Kannada land and language, then and now was inaugurated at Gopalakrishna pre-primary school, Shakthi Residential School and Shakthi Pre-university College as part of Kannada Rajyotsava celebrations.
Besant women’s college Kannada department head Dr Meenakshi Ramachandra inaugurated the programme and stressed on using Kannada in our daily lives.
Anupama women’s monthly magazine chief editor Shahnaz M said that we should respect our language and should not forget to speak it when we go to other cities.
Shakthi Pre-university College principal Prabhakar G S who chaired the programme said that Kannada has a history of more than two thousand years. “Modern generation should strive to preserve Kannada culture.”
Inchara group Urva conducted singing of Kannada poems. Shakthi school and pre university college students sang the songs.
Gopalakrishna temple managing trustee K C Naik, Shakthi education trustee Dr Muralidhar Naik, chief advisor Ramesh K and development officer Nasim Banu were present. Management official Bykady Janardhan Achar welcomed. Student Madhuraj proposed vote of thanks. Student Akshay and Niranjan compered the programme.
