Udupi, Nov 2: S L Bhojegowda, JD(S) MLC on Thursday said that Madhu Bangarappa was a most eligible candidate and his party the Congress will work together for his victory in by-polls.
Speaking at a press meet in Udupi here on November 1 Bhojegowda said,”Madhu might have lost in the assembly election, but he will win Shimoga Loka Sabha by-election. He is the state president of JD(S) youth unit.”
Bhojegowda slammed B S Yeddyurappa’s objectionable statement on fielding Madhu Bangarappa as their candidate. “What about the BJP candidate of Ramanagar? Where he was brought from? They should mind their words, before commenting on anything.”
The election is fought here on caste base. We will win the by-election in Shimoga by taking voters into confidence. I am very much exited to know the election result of Ramanagar, he added.
“A committee will be formed by chief minister to address issues related to NPS. Another major unsolved problem is special allowance and transfer policy of teachers. Transfer is a policy of government. By the end of next academic year, we will solve it,” he added.
He further said, “Janardana Reddy’s statement was anti-social. He came from an underground mafia. He does not deserve to do social service. He should be sent back to his original place. People do not want such leaders in politics.”
He further said, “I am not going to defend Udupi DC in the sand mining issue. BJP is also aware of legal hurdles. If they have so much concern about the issue, let MP Nalin Kumar Kateel and Shobha Karandlaje speak to central government. They have a major role to play in the issue.”
Justifying his statement that he would transfer the present DC, he said, “I made that statement because he is unable to understand the difficulties. The state government will try to solve the issue at the earliest,” Bhojegowda said.
“I oppose mixing of sand issue with politics. It is non-political issue. But the BJP is targeting a particular party. MLC Kota Srinivas Poojary must have control over his tongue. They should not mislead common people during elections,” he said.
Yogish Shetty, JD(S) district president, Vasudev Rao, JD(S) executive president, Pradeep Bailoor, JD(S) district spokes-person and others were present.
