Kasargod: Delegation of pro Kannada organizations to meet Karnataka chief minister

Kasargod, Nov 1: “Pro Kannada organizations in Kasargod will be called to Bengaluru where a delegation of them will meet Karnataka chief minister in a week and bring to his notice the situation of Kannadigas in Kasargod, protection of their rights and the situation of their schools,” said Kasturi Karnataka Janapada Vedike president Ramesh Gowda.

He was speaking at a protest meeting opposing the stand of Kerala government to snatch constitutional rights of minorities and its anti Kannada policy. The protests were held under the leadership of Kannada Horata samithi under the aegis of various Kannada organizations at Karandakkadi.



He demanded that Kannada teachers should be appointed and people speaking Kannada should be respected. "Karnataka chief minister should speak to Kerala chief minister. Karnataka chief minister should visit Kasargod and speak to people about language, border and schools.

“One thousand workers of Karnataka Janapada Vedike will come to Kasargod next November if the just demands of Kannadigas in Kasargod are not fulfilled,” he said. He had come to Bengaluru with 50 activists.

MLA N A Nellikunnu who inaugurated the programme assured that he will do all that he can. He said that all the facilities available to Malayalis should be available to Kannadigas also.

Zilla panchayat standing committee president Harshad Varkady, Kannada Sahitya Parishat Kerala unit president S V Bhat, Ravish Tantri Kuntaru, T S Sathish Adapa, Sunder Baradka, Radhakrishna Uliathadka, T S Shanker Narayana Bhat, Kannada Cultural Foundation president Shivarama Kasargod, Kannada medium teachers association committee president Ravindranath Ballal, organizations’ Kumble sub district president Sridhar Master, Mangalpady high school parent teacher association president Balakrishna Ambaru and others took part.

Kannada Horata samithi chief secretary K Bhasker compered the programme. Taranath Madhur welcomed the gathering.
