Sullia, Nov 2: Two persons, Mahesh Mutlaje and Ravi Balugodu, were taken by the police into custody on the night of Wednesday October 31, on the allegation of posing death threats to two persons who had adduced evidence against the murder-accused.

The case relates to the murder of Vedavathi Derappajjanamane at Mettinadka in Nalkur village. Apparently Vedavathi was killed for money. In this case, Karunakar, living by the side of the murdered woman, had been named as accused and sent to jail.

Karunakar had succeeded in getting bail in the case two days back. On the night of October 31, supposedly at the instigation of Karunakar, Mahaesh Mutlaje and Ravi Balugodu went to Konemane Colony in Mettinadka in a vehicle, and posed death threats by visiting houses of Vasant, and another witness, Bharathi. The two said that abusive words were hurled at them and they were threatened with murder. It is said that the duo also went to the residence of Jayaram, husband of Vedavathi, and threatened him.

The locals stopped them and handed them over to the police.
