Dubai: 17th Anniversary Celebrations of Devadiga Sangha

Dubai, Nov 16: Devadiga Sangha, Dubai ,celebrated their Grand Annual Party to commemorate their 17th year at Highland Hotel, Bur Dubai on 14th November 2008.
The program began at 11 am with a brief introduction by Shekar Moily .
The traditional lighting of the lamp was done by the Chief Guest Dr. K.V. Devadiga , an eminent Neuro surgeon, Rajyotsava Prashasti Awardee for the year 2007 and M.K.Harishandra, former President of Mangala Credit Cooperative Society ,Mangalore.
They were accompanied by Dharmapal Devadiga ,former president of Devadiga Sangha Mumbai and the community members Shobha Anand, Savithri Harishchandra and Yashoda Mohandas. Dinesh Kumar welcomed the guests and community members. Kumari Shikha Narayan introduced the guests of honor.
Harish Sherigar and Sharmila Harish proprietors of Harsha Residency (Group company of Acme-Dubai) the main sponsors , felicitated the chief guest Dr. K.V. Devadiga with a shawl and a bouquet. A memento was awarded by the co sponsors Narayan Devadiga and Mallika Narayan. Harishandra Devadiga and Savithri Harishandra. felicitated M.K. Harishandra the Guest of Honour.
All the other sponsors were also felicitated with flower bouquets.
Vishwanath Mada, Dharmapal Devadiga, Rons Bantwal and Balakrishna Bhandary the special guests from Udupi Shri Krishna Parisara Premi Samithi, India were also present for the occasion.
The Chief Guest Dr. K.V. Devadiga in his speech stressed on the value of education. He said if you give a person some fish he will eat it. But if you teach him how to fish he can earn a living. The Guest of Honour, M.K.Harishchandra requested the community members to come forward and do some valuable contribution to the Sangha back home.
The major purpose of the event was to create an Educational Fund which is to provide scholarships to fulfill the educational dreams of the less fortunate brethren back home in India. The members responded and contributed generously for this good cause.
The cultural extravaganza started off with a devotional prayer by Vani Uday Kumar followed by fabulous and scintillating dances by Baby Deekhsa Suresh, Baby Akshatha Harish, Master Anshul Harish, Kumari Nikita Ramesh, Naveen Kumar, Pravin Kumar and Dileep Devadiga. Hilarious comedy skits were performed by talented artists Sandeep, Dileep, Arun, Shekar, Nithyanand and Ramesh. Some melodious singing by Harish Sherigar, Suresh Devadiga , Pramod Kumar and Prabhakar Devadiga. mesmerized the entire audience .
Spot prizes were given away by Harish Sherigar. Also being children’s’ day, ACME Building materials, Dubai ,presented lovely gifts to each and every child who was present.
The day long event entertained the packed house of community members who enjoyed the sumptuous lunch provided by Chawadi Restaurant, one of the sponsors of the event. The starters were sponsored by Freshly Frozen Foods. The programme was concluded a raffle draws conducted by the members followed by vote of thanks.
