Mangaluru, Nov 9: Pre Unique 2018 ‘ Rise as one’, an intellectual and cultural fest, a stage set to display the vibrant talents of different Pre–University and High School students was formally inaugurated in the College Pretorium on Friday November 9. Around 35 PU colleges and 20 high schools are participating in this mega event. Pramila Patrao, the staff convener welcomed the gathering. An amalgamation of different talents on stage highlighted the uniqueness of the grand welcome organized.
The chief guests Devadas Kapikad, actor, director and Varsha Rohith, a fitness trainer, national level athlete and alumnus of St Aloysius PU College declared Pre Unique 2018 open by releasing the balloons along with the president Fr Denzil Lobo, director AIMIT, principal Fr Melwin Mendonca, the finance officer Fr John Lang Bosco, the vice-principal Charlotte D’Souza and the Pre Unique staff and student conveners.
In his chief guest address, Devdas Kapikad appreciated the college, its unique talents and discipline and said that one can expect such perfection only from St Aloysius PU College. He appreciated the teachers and quoted Purandaradasa to reminisce his own teachers who brought out his hidden talent. He concluded his address with a melodious song and enthralled the crowd gathered. This was followed by a theme song by Divya Fernandes.
Principal Fr Melwin Mendonca in his speech highlighted the theme ‘Rise as One’ and urged the students to set new challenges, help one another especially the downtrodden, to remain united and eliminate all evils and build a strong country.
Fr Denzil Lobo, former rector and present director of AIMIT, in his presidential address said that the world is incurring tremendous changes and the students should prepare themselves to face the challenges ahead and said that if they want to fly with eagles they should not swim with the ducks.
Anoma Lobo compered the programme and Althaf Mohammed and Suman Sunil rendered vote of thanks. Also on the dais were the finance officer Fr John Long Bosco, vice-pincipal of Commerce and Arts Charlotte D’Souza, the staff conveners Pramila Patrao, Joseph Prem Saldanha, Aleen Crasta and the students conveners Elanor, Adrian and Kian.
