Mangaluru: St Aloysius EM High School Urva tops at district level inter school Essay competition

Mangaluru, Nov 15: Rotary Club in the city as part of its youth service project conducted a district level inter school Essay competition exclusively for the DK district based high school students on the subject 'Environment Conservation & Development are they mutually exclusive?'

In the contest Siri Subhash who represented St Aloysius EM High School Urva secured first place with cash prize of Rs 5,000 and Shradha Shet represented Canara EM High School Dongerkery secured second place with cash prize of Rs 3,000 and merit certificates.

The prize distribution ceremony was held on November 14 at Hotel Ocean Pearl hall. Club president Rtn Dr Ranjan presided over the function and informed that the contest was held in connection with Children’s Day celebrations with about 30 school students participating in the contest. Clubs Vocational Service Project director Rtn Dr Anil Kumar was the adjudicator of the contest.



Political leader and social reformer Rtn Rajgopal Rai was chief guest. In his address, he lauded the services of the Rotary Club by conducting a contest for the students and encouraging them to improve their general knowledge.

Block education officer Poornima Rai was the guest of honour and awarded the cash prize and merit certificates to the winners and congratulated them on their unique achievements.

Rotary zonal lieutenant Rtn Vincent D’Souza distributed mementos to all the children present on the occasion. Secretary Rtn Prashanth Rai proposed the vote of thanks.
