Mangaluru, Nov 17: St Aloysius College Higher Primary School on November 16 celebrated ‘Children’s Day‘ at the school hall. The programme began by invoking God’s blessings by the tiny tots of Std I.
Sherwin and Sathvik verbally welcomed the gathering and this was followed by a spectacular welcome dance. The dignitaries then offered flowers to Jawaharlal’s portrait to show respect and gratitude. The students entertained the audience with beautiful action songs and dances.
Bhavish, Riyan and Joshua spoke on the significance of the day. Various competitions like colouring, word building, wealth out of waste and elocution were held and winners were felicitated during the programme.
The chief guest for the programme was Alan Menezes SPL, Rishel Fernandes the ASPL and Rishab Bekal the secretary of the school cabinet.
The programme was graced by the correspondent Fr Gerald Furtado SJ. Headmistress Philomena Lewis, asst headmaster Liya D’Souza and vice president of the PTA Rekha Fernandes.
The chief guest Alan Menezes addressed the gathering and said children are the joy of society and home as well as the future of the country. He said students must have an aim in life and should be always focused to achieve it.
The correspondent Fr Gerald Furtado SJ appreciated the whole programme and was thankful to all responsible to make it possible. He said Jawaharlal Nehru was a great leader who kept India as a single country. In his message he said God created children. We are God's creation so we are celebrating God’s love. He advised the students to pray their daily prayers honestly.
Rishab Bekal proposed the vote of thanks. The whole programme was conducted by the tiny tots of STD I.
