Dammam: Saudi Konkan Youngsters celebrate 19th annual day

Dammam, Dec 26: Saudi Konkan Youngsters (SKY) organised their 19th Annual Day and Nathalancho Dabazzo celebration on December 14 at Farm Hall, Dammam, which turned out to be a grand success.

The compere Alwyn Fernandes delivered a gracious start by welcoming the members and guests. The gala night kicked off around 5.30 pm with the traditional lighting of the lamp by the president Ronald Fernandes, Shirthady along with executive committee members. 

The programme began with a prayer conducted by Stema Tauro, followed by a bharatnatyam prayer dance performed by Sharon and Shalom Fernandes. Melodious carols sung by the children and adults led by Ronald Anitha Sequiera and Ronnie Sherly Fernandes added an extra flavor to the event. Excitement was high when Santa Claus came on stage and distributed chocolates to the children.



 

Addressing the gathering, president Ronald Fernandes emphatically thanked members for rendering dedicated services to SKY. He thanked the committee members for their selfless service and commitment to SKY in fulfilling its main objectives, serving this noble cause and providing opportunities to SKY members to display their talents. Treasurer Anil Tauro presented the financial report for the year and details of contribution by SKY to the deprived families and children’s education back home. 

The president in his speech also welcomed everyone and assured that it would be a magnificent evening with some wonderful performances lined up. He thanked the sponsors and participants for their contribution and appealed to the members to donate relentlessly which could help someone back home. 

On the occasion, the main sponsors for the event Abdul Razak, Khalid Al – Mushaiga Group of Co’s (KMT), Altaf Hussain and Basheer (Partners), Saad S H Al – Qatani Contracting Co (SAQCO) and Joey Joanna Fernandes - Al Manafa Trading & Transports Services Co were honored and felicitated with shawl and floral bouquets. The other sponsors were Lancy Lasrado, Romey Jessy Dsouza, Stany Glady Gonsalves, Richard Pramila Rodrigues, Arun Amrith Dsouza, William Dsouza, Melville Blanch Dsouza, Melwin Dsouza, Jerome Veena Lobo, Santan Roseline Rodrigues, Stany Ivy Mathias, Steevan Jennifer Rodrigues, Walter Lolita Lobo, Shanthi Ronald Fernandes, Roshan Anitha

Children who achieved academic excellence in their studies in Grades 10 and 12 were felicitated by gifts. Visiting parents were honored in the occasion. 

Members and guests enjoyed exciting and rocking cultural programmes performed by SKY members (kids, teens and adults). Classical dance, cinematic dance, singing, stand-up comedy act and rib tickling skits kept the crowd roaring and applauding every performance. 

The highlight of the event was a kuswar auction in which all the members and guests actively participated. This was finally won by Johnson Menezes and family. 

An added attraction was raffle draw carrying a brand new 40” Samsung Smart TV as bumper prize which was won by Caroline Cavite and family. There were exciting raffle draw and door prizes won by adults and children. 

Ronald Fernandes conducted the award and honoring ceremony. SKY Joint secretary Shanthi Fernandes proposed the vote of thanks. 

A wide spread buffet dinner was served to all the invitees. The entire programme was a grand success due to the dedicated service of the committee members with the sole aim of selfless contribution to the community. The excited audience enjoyed every moment. People congratulated the office bearers for organizing yet another spectacular memorable event.
