Dharwad, Dec 27: A couple died and son got seriously injured in an accident between a car and truck that occurred on Wednesday, December 26 on NH 4 near high court in the city.
The unfortunate victims, natives of Peradi near Moodbidri of Dakshina Kannada district, presently residing in Mumbai, are Anil P Shetty (65) and his wife Kushala Shetty (62). Shailendra Shetty (34), son of the deceased couple, who was driving the car, is seriously injured in the accident and is admitted to a private hospital.
A case in this regard is registered in Gadag police station.
Anil P Shetty is the nephew of Sanjeev Shetty, resident of Marodi Bandasale. Sanjeev Shetty's son Sujith's marriage was to take place at the Padmavati Kalyan Mantap in Moodbidri on December 28. So the Anil, his wife and son were travelling all the way from Mumbai to Moodbidri via Dharwad in their Breeza car. When the car was approaching Dharwad, a tanker that was coming from the opposite direction collided head on with the car. Both Anil and his wife Kushala died on the spot. It is learnt through hospital sources that Shailendra, who is seriously injured, is recuperating.
It is learnt that Anil P Shetty was a generous person who used to donate funds for the development of schools and renovation of temples in his native place.
Due to the death of the couple, a pall of gloom has fallen on the family of the house where the marriage programme was to take place in Peradi. The Mehendi programme was going on in the house on Wednesday and many relatives were celebrating the same, when the shocking news of the death of their relatives was relayed to them.
Due to the cruel fate, the wedding house is completely silent like a graveyard. The marriage that was to take place on December 28 has been postponed.

Thu, Dec 27 2018These are absurd comments. Youngsters have to drive cos the olders prefer not to.
Accidents happen and it's ridiculous to hear Gyan about how he should have avoided.

Thu, Dec 27 2018Even if a thousand people will put in their opinions to curb the alarming road accident fatalities, yet FEKU will view them with strong suspicion because he doesn't trust any of them - ONLY will confide with his Bakhts who will give him a proper "peace of mind".

Thu, Dec 27 2018Definitely they can do...India has the HIGHEST number of road accident fatalities in the world...definitely Government can play a role...National highways come under Central Government...Feku can divert some time to good causes, rather than blaming Congress, Rahul, Gandhi Nehru family etc. etc.
