Mangaluru, Jan 4: JD(S) district committee strongly condemned the increasing communal hatred on social and electronic media in the recent days.
In a press meet held here on Friday, January 4, Mohammad Kunhi, president, JD(S) district committee said, "Ajith Hanumakkanavar, the news anchor of Suvarna TV has courted controversy by commenting on Prophet Mohammad. Similarly, Prof Bhagavan also gave objectionable comments on Lord Ram. To add more fuel to the fire, some anti-social elements have uploaded hate posts and pictures against Christian priests and nuns.”
“We strongly condemn this type of hatred on social media. It will not help any religion and public at large. The authorities should take action against people who spread communal hatred. Some people always use communal aspects for their publicity. People in the society should understand their hidden agenda and must ignore them. JD(S) wants peace and harmony in the society. So we request the public not to pay heed to such things. If someone comes know to about people trying to disturb peace, they must inform the police and government bodies,” he added.
Speaking on the missing fishermen in Malpe, he said, "A delegation of JD(S) has already met the chief minister and IG. We have submitted a memorandum to fasten the search operations to trace the missing 'Suvarna Tribhuja' boat, which had left to deep sea along with seven fishermen from Malpe fishing port on December 13. Chief Minister Kumaraswamy has responded positively and has given instructions to investigation agencies to consider the incident seriously."
Commenting on Sabarimala issue, he said, "As per Supreme Court’s order, Kerala government has given protection to women who are showing interest to visit Sabarimala temple. Now the ball is in the union government’s court. Through ordinance, they can bring a stay on the Supreme Court’s order. The union government should interfere immediately without any political motive in this issue."
