Udupi, Jan 15: Mother Earth or nature is usually remembered on World Environmental Day (June 5th). But Milagres School has gone a step ahead by organising ‘Eco Awareness Week’ a unique programme to instill love for nature that will help them for life.
The week long programme began at Milagres English Medium School Kallianpur near here on January 11 under the leadership of by 'Green Teens' Eco Club. It was inaugurated by Rev Fr Lumnesh Swaroop SJ, environmentalist and eco activist from Bijapur.
Two resource persons, Fr Lumnesh along with Joseph Rebello, a Rajotsava Awardee and eco activist from Santhekattewill give four days of input session to the students.
The Eco club members also have worked hard to present an exhibition on Ecological Issues in a concrete way taking one issue/theme a day. The purpose of the programme is to make students aware of the need to save nature for future generations.
Eco-friendly ways in day to day living, Eco Spirituality, Water Harvesting, Composting and Vermibin making are topics of sessions. This week long programme will end on January 18. Mariet and Dora the eco club co-coordinators along with students have shown great enthusiasm.
