Mangalore: Ponnuraj Takes Charge as Dakshina Kannada DC

Mangalore, Jan 5: Ponnuraj, who till recently functioned as the deputy commissioner of Udupi district, took charge as the new DC of Dakshina Kannada district at around 12 noon today from the outgoing deputy commissioner Maheshwar Rao.  



Ponnuraj  was working in the secretariat  of  personnel and  administrative  reforms, Bangalore, is transferred here due to transfer of  Maheswara Rao to Mandya district. Maheswara Rao  handed  over charge to Ponnuraj and wished the new incumbent all the best. Head Quarters  Assistant Prabhakara sharma  was present at the moment.

Ponnuraj is known for his upright decisions and bold drive against the illegal constructions in Udupi.

Basically he is  from Coimbatore in Tamilnadu, who is an IAS officer of the 2000 batch. Earlier  he functioned  in Karwar as the assistant commissioner, chief executive officer  in  Bagalakot  zilla panchayat,  deputy commissioner in Udupi and Ramanagar  districts.



His wife Hemalatha  is presently the deputy commissioner of Udupi district .The couple have a five and half year old  son named Adithya .
 
`I will work on people's demand' Ponnuraj told the  media persons who were present at the DC office to witness the occasion that he would work for the people of the district and try to meet their aspirations and stand up to their expectations. He added, ` I will study  about the district first and see what the people of th district want me to do'.

    welcome to the land of wise people sir,we are good people,take every thing lying down, bribe our way to get the job done faster, we do not like out siders,specially mallu's and tamilians, they are every where in mangalore, MRPL, BASF, NMPT, KUDREMUKH, MCF,AIRPORT, RAILWAY STATION, CENTRAL MARKET, FRUIT STALLS,they crowd the hampankatta with their mobile shops(good-angadies),malls with smugled items, we import manual labour from north karnataka, carpenters from U.P, Marble layers from Rajastan,house maids from chikmagalur or orissa, we are highly technology oriented people,fish sellers, labourors,coconut tree climbers,tappers every body use cell phones,except in fish market we do not bargain while buying most of the things,our police personnel are very efficient and brave,they are expert lathi chargers and tear gas firers,our politicians are very active, either to incite violence or to quell it,they are very good at blaming each other,our MCC is doing a good job,all most all our roads are dug up either to build fly over,or to concretise, or to lay drainage pipes,water pipes or tele cables.70% of the water supplied to us is un fit to drink,electricity is improved,so our street lights are put out at 08.00 am, our garbage is scattered around by rag pickers,dogs,cats and cattles.our's was a green city once,now slowly but steadily turning in to concret jungle.our hillocks are flatened and fields are filled up to construct lay outs, our air is polluted with dust, soot and mines powder.our respected former D.C. has handed over you our once beutiful,once peaceful,once secular,once non poluted,green MANGALORE on a plater. kindly nourish it sir,hence we can cherish your name for a long long time. all the best.

    Welcome Sir, your first and foremost duty is to order the concern authority to finish the work of raod repair as early as possible. Mangalore people are suffering because of this repair work and frequent traffic jam is occuring in busy areas. Another work is to give a permanent solution to the problem of drinking water.
