Mangalore, Jan 11: In a glittering ceremony, the prestigious Rachana Awards were  presented to the achievers of five different fields on Jan 11, 2009 at the Milagres Hall, Mangalore

The Bishop of Mangalore presided over the program. Albert Tauro, Managing Director of Syndicate Bank could not attend the program due to other commitments, but the Chairman,   Administrative Reforms commission of  India and   former CM of Karnataka ,Veerappa Moily was the chief guest.

“Everyone has  power  to   achieve  by  using  their  full strength. No one is handicapped  in this  world”  said Veerappa Moily in his address after the presentation of awards.



































Earlier, achievers John Veigas  from  chelur in  Mogarnad , received   Rachana  agriculturist  of  the  year award, Francis D'souza, Chairman, Plant-tech group of  companies received the Rachana Enterprise of  the  year award,  Dr. Derek Lobo received Rachana professional of the  year award , Clevy Leo  Rodrigues, Abu Dhabi  received Rachana NRI entrepreneur of  the year award  and Dr. Olinda Pereira  received  the  Rachana outstanding  woman of  the  year award.

All the award winners gratefully acknowledged the honor bestowed on them and thanked Rachana committee and the people for their encouragement.

The Bishop of Mangalore, Most Rev. Dr.Aloysius Paul D'souza,  in his address ,congratulated the awardees and  appreciated Rachana Foundation for the tremendous encouragement given to the business community and professionals of the catholic community.

Lancy  D'Cunha, President, Catholic Sabha,  Ronald Gomes, President of  Rachana were also  present.

Titus Noronha And Marjorie Texeira  were  masters of ceremony,  J.S. Noronha proposed the  Vote of thanks.

    Congratulations! to the Awardees for receiving the prestigious award that they all deserved. I hope and wish that more awards in additional categories be included.     Congrats all the achievers.All the recepients of Rachna awards looked humble and spoke humility which shows Rachna awards were awarded to deserving people. Achiements is something many people can achieve but humility is the thing very few people possess. Dr. D Lobo's call to help the needy as much as possible should be accepted and practiced by all.
