Mangaluru: Snehalaya holds decennial celebration with new projects

Kasargod, Jan 26: On the occasion of decennial celebrations of Snehalaya Charitable Trust, Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, bishop of Mangaluru diocese, blessed the newly built chapel and Dr Ignatius D’Souza , bishop of Bareilly diocese, blessed newly built Snehalaya Psycho-Social Rehabilitation Asylum for Women at Snehalaya near here on Saturday, January, 26.

The inauguration of Snehalaya Psycho-Social Rehabilitation Asylum for Women and Snehalaya Chapel was done by Abdul Lathif, chariman Aishal Foundation. Fr Melwyn Paul D'Souza, head capuchin friary, Bejai, blessed the grotto of our lady of Lourdes. Fr Sebastian Chalackappally, vicar of St Alphonsa Forance Church Kankanady, released the decennial souvenir.

President block panchayat Manjeshwar, A K M Ashraf, vicar forane of Our Lady of Dolours Church Bela, Fr John Vas, chairman orphanage control board Fr Roy Mathew Vadakkal, parish priest St Lawrence Church Bondel Fr Andrew Leo D Souza, parish priest of Holy Cross Church Pavoor Fr Varghese Chakkala, provincial councilor and superior of St Ann’s Friary Fr Paul Melwyn D Souza, Manjeshwar Panchayat president Abdul Aziz Haji, Abdul Rauf Puthige, former president Karnataka Konkani Sahitya academy Roy Castelino were present, Ummer Saheb, Fr Carnelio Monthiero , Sidhique Ajman, ZA Kayyar and Ummer Uppala were on dais as guest of honour.

Hailing the service of Snehalaya, Dr Ignatius D Souza said "As the result of decennial celebration of Snehalaya, there are many new projects here being blessed and inaugurated today. In this occasion I appreciate Brother Joseph and his team for their service. After visiting here today, I witnessed the service that comes from the heart of this brother and his team. In Snehalaya, we are experiencing the religion of love, peace and humanity. I salute the people who are rendering their service here and all who part of it by various ways. Definitely this centre will grow like a tree."

In his presidential speech Dr Peter Paul Saldanha said "I thank Joseph and his family for their dedication on society. They are doing the mission of God. They are spreading and sharing love and blessings of God. We are lucky to see this type of family which is living among us. Their charity will inspire many. On this occasion I congratulating Joseph and his team and wish him all success in future. “

In his speech Michael D Souza said "We have gathered here today to thank Joseph Crasta and family for his service and dedication towards society. We all know that money is properly used here. Here Joseph and his team are practicing Bible in true spirit. This keeps them clean and transparent in service activities. It is very difficult to construct an institution by an individual. But when ten hands come together, it becomes easy and the goal is achieved. So it is my kind request to all generous people to strengthen the hands of Joseph."

In his speech Abdul Lathif said "Joseph Crasta is only an instrument of God. He is led by the divine spirit. Almighty knows the burdens and problems of his creatures. He decides how to help them. Here he has chosen Joseph to take care of his creatures. Snehalaya is rendering service without any bias of caste and religion. We all know the charity works of this institution. We are proud to say that such institution is situated in our surroundings. I congratulate Joseph and his team for completion of ten years of service and wish them a bright future."

The donors and guests were felicitated with mementos.

Before the formal stage programme, holy Mass was celebrated in the new chapel. Dr Peter Paul Saldanha and Dr Ignatius D Souza were the main celebrants.

In his solemnly Dr Peter Paul stressed on the importance of caring the poor and destitute. He appealed to the people to have more social concern and to be generous towards fellow human beings.

Priests from Mangaluru diocese and a large number of devotees attended the Mass.
