Mangaluru: Exciting competitions, shopping are highlights of Bondel Fiesta

Mangaluru, Jan 26: Dr Y Bharath Shetty, MLA, Mangaluru north inaugurated the two day Bondel Fiesta on Saturday, January 26.

In his inaugural speech, Shetty said, "Bondel church is known for its divine power and now it is declared as a shrine of our region. Apart from religious rituals, the parish management is actively engaged in various social activities and gatherings. The Bondel Fiesta is a new activity and the management has planned it as an historical event. It is my kind request that it should continue every year because it is a common gathering point for people of all religions and communities. Same time it provides the stage for talents and there will be chances to win prizes. I wish all who gathered here a happy shopping and joyful two days.”

Fr Joseph Martis, rector, St Joseph Seminary who attended as chief guest for the event said, “It is a pleasant evening here and people already are marching towards the venue in large numbers. It shows how the new concept is accepted by the people. As per organizers the amount collected from this fiesta will be used for various developmental works of parish. So with fun, joy and surprises a good intention exists behind this event. Definitely this event will be a big success."

 

In his welcome address, Fr Andrew Leo D’Souza, parish priest said, “This event is organised for the aid of the parish and the school's developmental programmes, especially repaying the loan on the school building. So I request to you all to participate in this in big numbers and enjoy the fiesta"

Fr Lawrence, Parish Priest, Ammembal, Fr Cyril, Assistant Parish Priest, Bondel, Stany Bela of Daijiworld Media, Elias Fernandes of Fourwind communications and sponsors of the event were present.

The two day fiesta will have two competitions ‘Talented Twins’ and ‘Entertaining Family’, which will be the major highlight. ‘Entertaining Family’ is open for immediate family relations only, consisting of grandparents, parents and grand children. A minimum two generations should come on stage. Minimum number of family members on stage is 3 and there is no cap on maximum. The competition has two rounds and every family will get 2 minutes on stage to showcase their talent. This competition will be held on first day of fancy fete.

‘Talented Twins’ will be held on the second day of fiesta and it is open for twins only. Competitions well held in below 12 and above 12 categories. Both competitions have registration fee of Rs 500 and winners will get Rs 7,777 and trophy. Runners up will get Rs 4,444 and trophy.

As the event is expected to run full house, people are requested to confirm their participation in advance by purchasing the entry passes. The event has all the ingredients to become one of the best in life. To keep the audience enthralled, the fiesta will have various food and mocktail stalls, along with variety of games and sales stalls, he said.

Exciting spot prizes and lucky draws will be held during the event. Nonstop music from well-known DJ Acvin will be an added attraction of the event.

The automobile industry and various other corporate companies will also install their stalls in the fiesta with exclusive information of their products.
