Mangalore: 'Pingara' Kannada Weekly Adopts Badaga Ulipady Village

Mangalore, Jan 13: 'Pingara', a Kannada newsweekly, has decided to adopt Badaga Ulipady Village in Mangalore taluk on the occasion of  the inauguration of its new office and completing five years of successful publication and stepping into the sixth year of operations,  celebrations connected with which were  held  at Hamilton Complex here on Tuesday January 13. The village falls under Mangalore north constituency and the publication will be making efforts for the overall development of the 1,200 families residing in the village, through infrasture, providing of training in organic and cooperative farming etc.,

























 
Speaking after inaugurating the office, B Nagaraj Shetty, chairman, Coastal Development Authority said, that supplying of true information to the readers and selflessly working for social causes are the responsibilities of any newspaper. The welfare of the society in general should be the main objective of media, he felt.
 
There is an urgent need for everybody to think of his/her responsibilities towards the society. The legislature, executive and the judiciary should work hand in hand for the upliftment of the society, he opined.
 
Blessing the newspaper, Fr Bonaventure Nazreth, priest, Valencia Church lamented at the lack of serious journalism. He hoped that 'Pingara' would emerge as a model for the  other media.
 
Melwyn D'Cunha, president, Mangalore Catholic Co-operative Bank Limited, Lancy D'Cunha, Catholic Sabha president, MC Muhammad Yahya, president, Hamilton Complex and  Vajrakshi P Shetty, president of Mangalore  taluk panchayat were the guests of honour, while Dogu Poojari, taluk panchayat member, presided over the function.
