Mangalore: Scooterist Knocked Down by Bus

Mangalore, Jan 15: A 50-year old man who was moving on his scooter, was fatally knocked down by a private bus at around 11.45 am near the Lady Hill circle here on Thursday January 15.
According ti sources, H I Khader, owner of Hotel Welcome located in Krishnapura, was travelling to the city to take his daughter home on his scooter, when he was hit by the bus that was bound for city from Manipal.
He died on the spot, police said. Driver of the bus fled from the scene.
The angry mob which gathered at the accident spot vented their ire at the reckless driving style of the private bus drivers. They claimed that the entry of express buses through this road into the city was prohibited and that the bus drivers routinely flout the rules and enter the city through this road instead of the national highway to save time and reach the bus stand early. In a hurry to reach the bus stand, they put at risk the lives of the road users, they complained.
