Mangalore, Jan 17: A total of 386 students including 113 post graduates were awarded degrees at the graduation ceremony and institution day celebration of Dr MV Shetty Memorial Trust Institutions held at Loyola Hall on Saturday January 17.
Addressing the students after presenting gold medals and degrees, deputy commissioner Dr V Ponnuraj asked them to have integrity in their profession so as to achieve success and to work for the upliftment of the society. “To be a good citizen is the most difficult task in life. It requires great courage and determination”, he said.
He also pointed out that the condition of the health sector in the country was pathetic. Lack of dedication, moral values, and professional ethics was responsible for this condition rather than insufficient infrastructure or technology, he opined.

Dr M Ramgopal Shetty, founder secretary, Dr MV Shetty Trust, presided over the function. A graduation procession was also held on the occasion.
Prof BV Kathyayani, A Pitchaiah, Dr T Subba Rao, Prof K Lathamani, Dr Geetha Bhat, Suma S Rai, Dr Aarty H Shetty, JM D’Souza, Prof Chandrashekar Shetty, and Dr Hima Urmila Shetty were present on the occasion.
