Texas reveals names of sexual abuse accused clergymen

Washington, Feb 1 (IANS): Every Catholic diocese in the US state of Texas has released the names of all priests, deacons and other clergy members accused of sexually abusing children.

The dioceses publicly identified on Thursday at least 298 clergy members across the state that have faced "credible abuse" allegations dating back to the 1940s, reports CNN.

The decision for the public identification was taken last October as part of an effort "to promote healing and restoration of trust in the Catholic Church".

Lists published on each diocese's website, include the names of the clergy members, details about when and where they were ordained and which parishes they were assigned to.

Each diocese compiled it's own list and the details about those accused and the allegations vary.

There are 8.5 million Catholics and 1,320 Catholic parishes in Texas, according to the Texas Catholic Conference of Bishops.

Dear Daijiworld readers, Please be informed about the lawyers and the torts who are ambulance chasers and money makers ....Most of the lawyers are opportunists and jump the wagon they catch anybody and everybody to make a fast buck..In U.S.A or California.... its a policy of sue everybody for everything.. The lawyers are slimy snakes jumping at the slightest given chance , coercing others to say that they were victims of abuse etc by promising them huge sums of money. Dont fall for this trap...

The statistics show that nearly one in four clergymen are sexual abusers. That is a huge percentage and looks like these men enter the religious order not to pray but to prey. All novitiates should before they seek to enter should undergo psychiatric assessment to determine their orientation.

Time to introspect. However, we should not get surprised by these facts. We need to think as God has given us body, soul and spirit.
If we cannot differentiate between religion and Spirituality there is no hope for the believers / followers.
Instead of following Bible & Jesus way of life, their own law has been imposed on believers, hence this was / is bound to happen.

No wonder there are no church-goers in the West and the catholic are beginning to be atheists. It should have been such that the priest leads the way and the believer follows. This is opposite - the priests leads to sin and the believers turning away from the church.

Very regrettable events. This is why, the premises that were once graced the church are now turned into temples, museums or other public places.

I agree with you Jennifer. I live in Boston and visit the church ever week for the past 2 years. Its now become an expense affair. I paid USD 20 last evening to pray at church for a family of 4. That is USD 5 per head. Outsiders or Tourist fee is USD 8. Its something new from Jan 1 2019 .Moreover USD 1 to use the rest room and hourly parking fees. So its better to pray at home. No wonder attendance is dwindling . Soon it may be converted to a restaurant or a shopping mall if not a mosque or a temple.

Matt.7. [1] Judge not, that ye be not judged. [2] For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. [3] And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
