The officials of Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) and operators of private buses in the city, said on Tuesday January 20 that they had not stopped any inbound or outbound trips between Mangalore and Mumbai in the backdrop of an uneasy calm in the villages of bordering districts of Karnataka and Maharashtra.
 
Speaking to Daijiworld.com, Ganapathi, traiffic controller, KSRTC Mangalore division, said a bus arrived safely at the stand in the morning, and the bus to Mumbai also left as per schedule in the afternoon. “We have not received any information about suspension of trips between two cities from the authorities. No untoward incidents have been reported so far”, he added. 
 
Meanwhile, bus operations between the two states have come to a halt in other parts of the state. The North East Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NEKRTC) suspended operations of its buses from Gulbarga, Bidar, Raichur, Bellary, Bijapur, and Belgaum.
 
Three buses were damaged after suspected Shiv Sena activists attacked KSRTC buses in Latur and Ugdir towns in Maharashtra near the state border on Sunday January 18. Following the incident, all buses plying between Bidar and Maharashtra have been suspended.
 
Moideen of Ideal Travels said that not a single bus from the city to the metro had been stopped.There is no problem for the buses plying between the two cities, he reiterated.
 
At Tumkur, two trucks bearing Maharashtra state registration were set on fire allegedly by Kannada activists on the Bangalore-Pune National Highway on Monday January 19. Police have stepped up vigil in all the border villages.
 


Home minister VS Acharya and his Maharashtra counterpart Jayant Patil are in touch over the developments, said sources.
