Mumbai: Passenger finds cockroach in in-flight meal – Air India apologises

Daijiworld Media Network - Mumbai (MS)

Mumbai, Feb 5: In a shameful incident that occurred three days ago on one of the flights of Air India, a dead cockroach was found in the meal of a passenger.

The said flight was flying from Bhopal to Mumbai on Saturday, February 2. Manoj Khandekar, one of the passengers on the flight found a dead cockroach in the in-flight meal that was served to him. Shocked and enraged, Khandekar acted immediately and posted the same on his Twitter account.

In response to Khandekar's Tweet, Air India apologized through a tweet in which the airline said, "We sincerely apologise for the incident where our valued pax (passenger) had a disappointing experience with the meal served onboard our Bhopal-Mumbai flight. Air India always endeavours to ensure our pax enjoy our services."

    People,

In Korea and China Cockroach and Dog meal is delicacy....

Air India must have prepared the meal for Beijing flight....accidentally supplied to Bhopal-Bombay route...

This could be a Good Advertisement for Air-India in China...

@Langoo,Belman,it is not any jokes here.Take it seriously.Afterall you too might not find it a joke when you have it in your plate.Afterall I dont blame Air India for it.afterall it comes from caterers. In India it is normal cockroches are everywhere.Of course It shouldnt have happen.Hope it will not happen again caterers should be taken to task and they should pay compansation to the passenger.Best is change the caterer.Air India should have given a alternative food.sad it has happened to Air India which has enough burden on it.

    Rita,

Its not a joke,,,,I am serious...Cockroaches and Dog meat are delicacy for Chinese and Koreans...

Whats wrong if we export them to China and Korea to earn Foreign exchange...yesterday there was news Pakistan is exporting 800000 Donkeys to china for meat and skin...nothing wrong with it as well...in fact its better than export terrorists...

You may not know...Pakistan is full of Donkeys Rita ....

    ...Tak...Takk...

Langoolji, there are plenty of cockroaches here.. They all live in peace and harmony. They may not go to China as they fear for their lives. I couldn't buy durbeen since you said you will help to select..! If I had purchased,, I would have been able to seen you from santhe itself 😆

Food not prepared by air India..... but caterers shall be heavily penalized to avoid further problem and all airline team should periodically check the hygiene of catering place. Never know it may happen in other airlines as well.

Tendering apology is not going to immune from their responsibility, further enquiry shall be conducted and if any negligence is found on the part of the staff or airfreight catering company then the stringent legal action shall be taken, which includes termination of employment or catering contract.

You being a state owned airlines, shall also compensate all those passengers, who travelled on the day.

These kind of experiences - delay, cancellation, near-accident,bad food etc - are a dily occurence for Air India. They should create a department just for sending apologies, hopefully better than "Sorry for the disaapointing experience of eating a cockroach on our royal plane".
