I had the pleasure of meeting A.S.P. Dileep some time ago in the company of The Inspector General of Police.I was quite impressed with this gentleman. It is good to see that our City is in the hands of very efficient Officers like Dileep. I have however a suggestion to make. Problems created by people should also be solved by people. In this context The Law Enforcement Branch would do well to enlist the cooperation the public of Mangalore to coordinate the efforts of The Police Officers and render all possible help to them. This system operates well in U.S.A. and other countries.

There has to be a beginning somewhere & I appreciate that it's done at last, by Mr. Dilip, ASP. Well begun is half done. While we blame auto rickshaws, bus drivers & other drivers, I agree with you. But as n when such drivers have violated traffic rules n regulations, what measures have we taken? why are we NOT following system of suspending such licences for a min of 06 months. Only then descipline will prevail. Public awareness is equally imporatnt, so lets start soem where & try n get order in mangalore.Why are we not talking about private vehicles that come to children, so many students & those many vehicles, coz, few parents insist that they kids to school or college. May be a thought can be given to this fact also.

I completely agree with Mr ajith comments, the police show double standards regarding traffic violations the bus drivers pass even when the light is red but if a scooterist or a car does the same they are fined, another is the horn the bus drivers make even they do spare the hospital zone, I request the concerned authorities to stop this

Dear Mr. Walter, your letter to Air India Express is indeed a great service to all citizens and created great public awareness and anger towards the inefficient and impolite staff whose deserves to be punished if they do not improve their filthy attitude.

Public Participation on Traffic Safety is a good thing but what happens after the seminar – Nothing!!! I am just giving an example of about 1KM of road from PVS Circle to New Chitra.

1.The bus stop before signal of PVS circle on KRR road is in the worst possible place one can ever imagine, yet in spite of earlier plans of shifting it for strange reasons it is still in place. All the buses stopping at this stop invariably move right towards M.G. Road from left to right. While those traveling straight will be stranded whichever lane they are in, waiting for the unruly buses to take t heir right turn. Even when the signal is green the Buses will stop in both the lanes blocking the passage. Solution : bulldoze this stop and shift it at least half kilometer back towards karangalpady. Those who come to this stop can easily walk a few yards. Improve the condition of foot path.

2.After signal and after all the buses clears the way you move forward You come across a road divider in front of Hotel Ayodhya with a No right turn board. Lot of cars slow down and stop here to take a right turn showing total disregard to this sign. Being a frequent passer I have never ever seen any offender caught by police. Solution: Instead of counting no of police per citizens use them to man at these positions randomly for at least half an hour and put heavy penalty (without accepting bribe) on offenders and instruct them take a round at Navabharat circle

3.Further up you find Navabharat circle. Here nobody knows who has the right of way. I doubt even the RTO or the traffic Police know about it. Here ‘might is right’ is followed. Solution: In any right side driving traffic approaching from right side have the priority. If this is different in Mangalore at least put the inverted triangle sign at all

4 road intersections. Post Police at least for half hour at random intervals. 4.When you reach new Chitra Junction you will find bus stops at either end and everyone speeding in all directions. Majority of autos come to extreme right side of the road when they take a right turn obstructing traffic taking a left turn. Most of the time you will find bikers overtaking you from left side. Solution: Shift at least one bus stop further away. At least place a vertical cement pipe or a pole in the center of intersection so that traffic can maintain left side entry around that pole. When will be next seminar?

Educate the people and school childrens through T.V.Channels as most of people watch T.V. also use local news papers to educate systems of traffic and rules and regulations.Why not make a strict driving test oral and written every 2nd year ?? . Dont blame always Autos,cars,Buses . who are the persons gave them permits to drive. Lot of Road Tax is collected ,when they make mistake fines are collected where it goes,why can`t you use this money on education and Road net works. Everything is possible only need ,Right people in Right place.

Its not just the auto rickshaws but also the bus drivers who equally contribute to the chaos. On a normal two way road, there are times when three buses try to overtake each other leaving the vehicles on the opposite direction stuck. The police should strictly fine these drivers, who violate the basic traffic regulation rules

It is the lack of road discipline by 99% of drivers in mangalore.It is similar to places like lucknow etc . It can be easily improved in mangalore if the police strictly enforce this discipline and fine drivers for all road violations instead of only targeting people for licences, vehicle documents tec.
