Mangalore, Jan 23: Flower exhibition, an annual event that attracts huge crowds,  will be organized  at Kadri Park here  from Friday January 23 to Monday January 26.

As part of the exhibition, the department of horticulture will display a variety of flower plants and decorative plants,  said H N Hema, deputy director, Horticulture department, speaking at a  press conference in the city on Thursday January 22.





































This exhibition will provide an opportunity for non-government organizations and the general public to exhibit exquisite flowers and plants they have grown. A variety of unique saplings being provided by the twin-district farmers will also be on display at the venue on the occasion, she said.

"A model of boat will be prepared at the venue, with the help of attractive flowers like rose and anthorium, to showcase the fine skills and craftsmanship of the coastal people and as a tribute to the fishermen of the two districts. Apart from this, private nurseries from across the state will take part in the exhibition, where demonstration of modern equipments in horticultural activities will be on display. Flowers, plants, vegetable seeds and handicrafts will also be displayed and sold on the occasion," informed senior assistant director in the department N Somaiah.

The exhibition will lay emphasis on the importance of organic farming.  Cultural programmes, magic show, dance and Yakshagana episode will be performed during the flower exhibition from 6 pm to 9 pm every day. District-in-charge minister Krishna J Palemar will inaugurate the event while Mangalore South MLA N Yogish Bhat will preside over the inaugural function.

    it was nice. but some of the plants which were on sale were too costly. it is better if you make cheaper. so that some would buy and develoed interest to do gardening. it is better if you would exhibit some indoor plants as many live in flats so that they could develop idea to grow plants thank you. leena

    Simply beautiful pictures. Sri Ganesh made out of vegetables and flowers (including the mouse with the tail) is very creative and striking. Cashew fruits with nuts -I mostly miss seeing them during my Mangalore visits, because of the short season they are seen.
