Mangalore: DC Suspends Three Officials over Alleged Land Scam

Daijiworld Media Network- Mangalore (SN/SP)

Mangalore, Jan 24: "Criminal cases have been filed against three persons who created fake records and swindled 29.5 acres of government land in eight separate cases in Manjanady village," revealed Dakshina Kannada deputy commissioner Ponnuraj, speaking at a press conference here on Friday January 23.

The accused have been identified as Abubakkar Natekal, Ibrahim and Guruvappa Poojary and the identity of other persons involved with the scam will be established soon, he said.

The negligence and collaboration of the government officials in this illegal act has been found during the investigations. Strict action and criminal cases will be initiated against the guilty officials. Three government employees have been suspended for their connivance in the crime, said Ponnuraj.

Apart from Manjanady, such acts have also been found to have been committed in various other places.  A special team is being formed for conducting impartial investigation into this issue, he revealed.

"The investigation has not been a smooth affair, as old files since the year 1960 have not been preserved systematically. Investigation of each file requires detailed study of three to four documents, he explained.

Prabhakar Sharma, headquarters assistant in the DC office, Trilokchandra, probationary IAS officer, Raju Mogaveera, tashildhar and Vijaya Kumari Shenoy, deputy director, food and civil supplies department were present on the occasion.

Sir, Ponnuraj very efective government official he is tough nut ever cracked, with his effective services in Udupi emerged with good results. During his time he was praised by all for his bold decisions. He never bowed for any influence of political party. Mangalore would not have witnessed 2008 violence if Ponnuraj had his DC Raj at that time!

Citizens of D.K. have found new hope in the newly appointed D.C. Mr. Ponnuraj. We are extremely grateful to have him at the helm of affairs. A no nonsense, young person. I have my thanks to him for at least 2 issues & have my testimony on it

    1) Issuing of RTC within 4 hrs which was denied for nearly 6 months.

    2) Voters ID in total shambles with wrong information repeated 3 times, been now ones again taken for correction, & hopefully corrected ones & for all. The country needs these young persons in more in numbers

Shame on these Govt. Officials. It is said "Govt's Work is God's Work". Whatever these or many more officials have done it is like committing Day Light Robbery. How much of Land Does a Man Require. This is just not One Off Case and there could be many more. It is time that the Land Record Department sets right in keeping the Land REcords in Order. There is so much of Vacant Land in and Around D.K. that being a Small city, there is every possibility of creating Fake Records to pocket Land. Only and ONly Govt. Officials can do this. It is Nothing but Greed. The Kind of Wealth the Govt. Officials are accumulating and inspite of Lok Ayuktha tracing their disproportionate Wealth, No action is being initiated. This gives other officers also a chance to follow the footsteps of these corrupted people. Time has come to take action on every corrupted officials so that it is a lesson to other officials.
