Abu Dhabi: KCO Announces Mangalorean Day on May 15

Abu Dhabi, Jan 28: Konkani Cultural Organisation (KCO), Abu Dhabi's only recognized Mangalorean Konkani Association, has announced its plans to hold the  annual and traditional 'Mangalorean Day' on May 15, 2009.

KCO has charged itself up fully this year by lining up additional entertainment items for the event. It had already made an auspicious beginning this year, by organizing the grand 'Cultural Day' recently in Abu Dhai, which was a tremendous success. It will also be holding throw ball and volleyball tournament to promote the sports among the  community on Feb 27, 2009.


Wilson Olivera

This year's Mangalorean Day will be special, as well known Konkani singing talents from Mangalore and Kuwait will entertain the crowd with melodious and soulful singing. Wilson Olivera, who has more than 27 musical nites to his name and three Konkani albums, will be the centre of attraction. This young composer, singer who created his own identity in Konkani music, is all set to enthrall the Abu Dhabi audience for the first time. It is also learnt, that Wilson Olivera will release his fourth musical album on this entertainment-filled day.


Rony and Adrian

Rony D'Cunha, leading Konkani voice from Kuwait and melodious Anitha Samson from Mangalore will be the added attractions. Konkani music Maestro Adrian Gomes will be directing the music for the entire show.

The comedian trio 'Me-Mo-Ri' (Mellu, Moras and Richha) will be performing skits in between intervals.


Leslie Rego

Leslie Rego, who gained enormous fame and popularity  during the  highly successful  'Gulf Voice of Mangalore' event in the Gulf through his unique style of compering and charming mannerisms and smile,  will handle the entire show in Konkani as well as in English.

    Its nice to know that Mangalorean Day will be held on May 15th in Abu Dhabi. Why not every year Mangalorean Day be celebrated on a particular date? How about Non Resident Mangaloreans wherever they are, celebrate like this?
