Kuwait, Jan 30: Four years have gone by and with successful events like Charity Bazaar,  Joyous Navidad, Food Festival up its sleeve the Agnesian Alumnae Kuwait held its Annual General Body Meeting on 30 Jan 2009 at the Avanthi Palace Restaurant, Kuwait. The meeting commenced at 10:30am, with the moderator for the day, Lolita Fonterio, welcoming all attendees. In the true Agnesian spirit the meeting commenced with a prayer led by the Liturgical Secretary Letitia D’Costa. Having thanked the Almight Letitia invoked God’s blessing on the committee that was to be elected. 

The annual report was putforth by the Secretary- Annet Castelino followed by the Financial report by Treasurer- Diana D’Souza. Lolita led the proceeding of the Election, calling each nominee to introduce themselves to the audience.

The AAK Executive and the Management Committee for the year 2009– 2011 was elected, all geared up to keep the AAK banner flying.  Reema D’Souza, was unanimously elected as the President and Diana D’Souza as Vice-President.  The members were nominated and willingly accepted their respective posts as office bearers of the new committee for the Term 2009-2011: General Secretary - Annet Castelino, Treasurer – Celine Mendonca, Cultural Secretary- Crystal D’Souza, Sports Secretary – Leena Fernandes, Co-ordinator Liturgical Services- Stella Fernandes, PRO- Delma Coutinho .The Management Committee included Anita Lewis, Anita Fernandes, Jovita D’Souza & Lolita Fonterio. Advisory committee consists of Letitia D’Costa and Diany Coutinho who with their expertise will assist and guide the team to work for the betterment of AAK.

An open session of discussion found members expressing their views on the events of the past four years. While each one present felt proud of the successful achievements, issues of concern as well as those that needed improvement were highlighted. 

The outgoing President Diany thanked the office bearers and committee members for all the support extended during her tenure. In her speech she mentioned that the success of all the events organized was truly possible with the selfless efforts not only of the members but their spouses and family members too. She thanked all friends, sponsors and donors who helped us make our dream a reality, of funding  students to continue their education through AAK Scholarship. And most importantly it was the divine presence of God that was a guiding force at all challenging times.













 

The newly elected President- Reema D’Souza, thanked Diany for her dedication and being the inspiring force to all. In her speech she sought the support of each Agnesian to contribute towards keeping the spirit of the association, thus working towards the motto of the Alumnae-“Educating deserving girl students of St. Agnes College” along with providing a platform to showcase hidden talents of the members. Under her leadership along with the office bearers and committee members she looks forward to taking AAK to better heights along with serving our ALMA MATER.

The meeting concluded with the College Anthem-“God is our Strength” thus invoking strength and guidance on the activities for the forth coming term of 2009-2011. Delicious refreshments were served by Avathi Palace which members relished before they dispersed.

The newly elected Executive and the Management Committee members of AAK take this opportunity to thank one and all for the support extended during the past four years. We humbly look forward to your continued support in our future endeavours..
