First Annual Celebrations of KCS Israel Organized

Tel Aviv, Jan 31: Konkan Catholic Sanghatan, Israel celebrated its first annual day with great joy on the Friday January 30 in Levanda Hall, Tel Aviv. 

 The celebration began  with mass at 7.30 pm, offered by Fr Sebastian Kuttenikal (Kerala) of Jerusalem. Roshan Crasta and group conducted the choir and Avil Miranda made all the liturgical arrangements. A stage programme followed the mass. 

Jacob Fernandes (Honavar) welcomed the gathering. Fr Sebastian presided over the function. Melwyn Furtado (Bajpe), Praveen Pereira (Taccode),  Roshan Monteiro (Omzoor) and Arun D'Souza (Omzoor) were present on the dais.

Roshan Monteiro (Omzoor), secretary of KCS presented a brief informative Annual Report and the account of the year 2008-2009. This was followed by inaugurating the function by symbollically lighting the lamp. Later, the new office-bearers were introducedto the gathering which was followed by the oath-taking ceremony officiated by Fr Sebastian. The new office-bearers of KCS for the year 2009-2010 are as follows:

Asst. Treasurer   - Xavier Rodrigues (Honnavar)
Cultural Secretary   - Wilfy Mascarenhas (Angelore)
Asst. Cultural Secretary  - Prakash Vaz (Honnavar)
Asst. Cultural Secretary  - Lydia D'souza (Belthangady)
Sports Secretary   - Jacob Fernandes (Honnavar)
Asst. Sports Secretary  - Praveen Aranha (Gantalkatte)
Asst. Sports Secretary  -  Gration D'souza (Omzoor)
Liturgical Secretary    - Avil Miranda (Kulshekar)
Asst. Liturgical Secretary  - Alfred Fernandes (Goa)
Asst. Liturgical Secretary  - Gracy Correa (Mulky)
PRO     - Praveen Lobo (Omzoor)

After the oath-taking ceremony, the new president Praveen Pereira (Taccode) addressed the gathering and thanked them for giving him an opportunity to work for them. He also said that he would give his best service in the Sanghatan as per the expectations of the members with the help of their support.

Fr Sebastian speaking on the occasion congratulated all the new office-bearers and asked them to work selflessly for the welfare of the Sanghatan. 

The organiser Melwyn Furtado congratulated the new president Praveen Pereira. This was followed by the handing over of responsibility of secretary by Roshan Monteiro to the new aecretary for the present year Arun D'Souza. 

Secretary Arun D'Souza presented the vote of thanks and concluded the stage programme. This was followed by funny games conducted by Roshan Monteiro. The programme concluded with DJ dance for the audience, which was provided by William Lopes (Coorg). 

Praveen Lobo compered the stage programme. Refreshments arranged by Johnson D'Souza (Ferar) were served to the audience.  A large number of Konkani Catholics were present on the occasion.
