Udupi, Feb 1: The auspicious wedding ceremony of Lord Srinivasa and Padmavati was held as part of the ‘Venkata-Krishna Mahotsava’ at Rajangan of Sri Krishna Math on Saturday January 31.
The ceremony took place in the ‘Godhuli Lagnam’ and was conducted under the leadership of Sri Sugunendra Teerta Swami, Sri Paryaya Puttige Math, in the presence of Sri Raghumanya Teerta Swami of Sri Bhimana Katte Math.
Anandateerta Char Pagadal, special officer, Dasa Sahitya Project, Tirupati Temple, performed the ceremonial rites.
Vedic scholars from Tirupati recited the hymns appropriate for a wedding ceremony.
Prasanna Acharya couple accompanied Lord Srinivas, while Muralidhar Acharya, and Nagaraj Acharya couple accompanied Goddess Padmavati during the ceremony.
A large number of devotees gathered at the Rajangan to witness the wedding ceremony of the deities.
Sri Sugunendra Teerta Swami honoured delivered the benedictory address and contributed cash of Rs 1 lac to Lord Tirupati Venkataramana.
A plan to establish the Venkatesh Kalyana Mantapa in the city, was also announced on the occasion.
Dr V S Acharya, state home minister, MLA Raghupathy Bhat, Dinakar Shetty, president, Town Municipality, and Harikrishna Punaroor, former president, Kannada Sahitya Parishat, were present on the occasion.
