Doha, Feb 1: The Mangalore Cricket Club (MCC) Qatar, which, in its 16th year of existence is one of the oldest socio-cultural clubs in Qatar, staged yet another mega Konkani show ‘BAILA DABAZO’ by the world famous ‘Mandd Sobhann’ (Guinness World Record holder for its Konkani Niranthari Marathon Non-stop group singing) troupe lead by Konkani Viswa Kala Ratn Bab Eric Ozario on Friday, 30th January 2009 at the Gulf Cinema, Doha.

When Bab Eric Ozario led from the front as the lead vocalist, his better half  Joyce Ozario was by his side to lend her voice in many a melodious and meaningful songs. Another star on the Konkani music horizon, sweet voiced Prakash D’Souza and the ever popular Anita Samson mesmerized the audience with their matchless singing performance.

While the melody of the music soothed the ears, the lyrics of the songs made one ponder, the scintillating dances by the ‘Naach Sobhann’ team of Avil D’Cruz, Anil Spinoza, Jeetan D’Cunha, Marula Nisha, Snehal Spinoza and Sweety D’Cruz were a feast to the eye.  The dancers danced to their hearts’ content, as if it was their last dance.  The movements were graceful, expressions flawless, energy bountiful and the crowd of over 700 could feel that the dancers enjoyed what they were doing as much as they did.

The music was simply superb.  One could see the professionalism in the talented youngsters.  Roshan D’Souza, the lead guitarist, Ashit Pinto, the base guitarist, Richard Monteiro on the keyboard, Sachin Sequeira, the drummer, and Umesh Iddya on the saxophone and trumpet jelled in music like milk and water.  With a perfectly balanced sound they made most in the audience dance to their tune.

Daiji Dubai’s ‘Best Young Talent’ award winner, writer and dramatist Nellu Permannur and Alwyn Veigas kept the audience laughing with their unique jokes and act.

To ice the cake, Stany Alvares of Dacter Damyav TV serial fame, compered the musical show with his inimitably unique style.

A souvenir commemorating the the occasion was released by Mr.Chaugule in the presence of the Editors Joyce Alvares and Prakash Noronha and other executive committee members. Cultural secretary Reena Castelino compered the formal function.

The special attraction was the live quiz conducted by Ronald Rodrigues which  made the audience put on their thinking caps.

Vishwa Kala Ratn Bab Eric Ozario was introduced to the audience  by the club’s General Secretary Oliver Pereira and was felicitated with a memento and shawl by Jerald D’Mello, Founder Member. Bab Eric in turn  introduced his ‘Mandd Sobhann’ troupe of 17 who were also honoured with a memento by Mr. D’Mello.

Youth Coordinator Errol Sequeira proposed the Vote of Thanks.

The show ended on a high note with 20 minutes of non-stop Baila Masala which rocked the audience and had the youngsters grooving to the tune.

MCC feels proud for organizing such an event and thanks each and everyone who have contributed to the success of the show.  MCC especially thanks the Main Sponsor ‘Saad Contracting & Trading Co.’, Official Carrier - Air India Express, Al Saai Group the official sponsor, Associate Sponsors: Al Balagh Trading & Contracting Co. and Integral Food Services, Support Sponsors: Inspection, Corrosion Engineering Services, Gulf International Enterprises, Apollo Fleet, Shahjan Trading, Integra International, Ramada Hotel and Construction Development Co., Co-Sponsors: Qatar Kentz, Advanced Technical Services and Abdulla Trading and all other sponsors, benefactors, well wishers and members of the community for their whole hearted and valuable support without which this mega event wouldn’t have been possible.

The success story of the program was reflected by the comments of the young adults, who usually shy away from such programs, when they said they thoroughly enjoyed the professionalism exuded by the artistes in all aspects and the quality with which it was rendered.  As promised, the 20 songs, 10 dances, 7 jokes and 20 minutes of absolute non-stop Baila madness made  'BAILA DABAZO' a big bundle of sheer entertainment of the highest quality to all those present.
