Udupi: 60-year-old man dies of suspected monkey fever in Manipal

Udupi, Mar 2: A man died in the wee hours of Friday at KMC hospital, Manipal due to suspected Kyasanur Forest Disease (KFD), also known as monkey fever.

The deceased has been identified as Pashwanath Jain (60) from Kargal in Sagar taluk.

District Health Officer Rajesh Suragihalli said that the man had recovered from KFD earlier this year. He was admitted to KMC hospital again after he fell sick. KFD is believed to be cause of death. But the autopsy report is awaited.

If the report confirms that the man died of KFD, the death toll would rise to nine in the district in a gap of four months.
