Udupi: KSRTC driver meets death while on duty

Udupi, Mar 4: Kempanna Poojary (48), a driver attached to Mangaluru third unit of Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC), passed away when on duty.

The bus that was being driven by Kampanna to Mangaluru had left Kabbaragi in Kushtagi taluk, Koppal district at 3 pm on March 1. When the bus reached Kumta at 1.30 am on March 2, he started suffering from severe headache. He then asked the spare driver to take charge of the bus and lied down on a seat. When the bus reached Mangaluru at 5 am on March 2, Kempanna Poojary did not get up even after his colleagues tried to wake him up. He was taken to a private hospital where the doctors confirmed that he was no more.

The deceased is survived by parents, wife, two sons, and a daughter. Kempanna, who was from Hattaragi near Belagavi, was known for his skillful, accident-free driving record.
