Sullia: Accident claims life of student returning after Shivaratri programme

Sullia, Mar 6: After a goods van hit a car at Poovadka, a student who was returning home by car after taking part in Shivaratri programme on Monday afternoon lost his life. The accident happened at Povadka, in which three other passengers of the car suffered injuries.

Vijesh (14), a ninth standard student of Vidyabodhini high school at Balila near Sullia was killed in the accident. He is survived by parents and two sisters. The injured are Vishnumurthy Kunjathaya (62), his wife, Jayalaxmi (56), and Raghavendra Prasad (45),who is a priest of Kavugoli Mahavishnu temple and resident of Cherkala Pady. All of them are being treated in a hospital.

All the occupants of the car had visited Kavugoly Mahavishnu temple in the afternoon of March 4 on account of Shivaratri. After the noon puja, they were moving towards Ishwaramangala in a car belonging to Raghavendra Prasad, when the tragedy happened. After the van hit the car, the car rammed into a roadside tree, which inflicted most of the damage.
