Mangaluru, Mar 7: Relating to an incident in which Kavoor police circle inspector, K R Nayak, interrupted a progamme of Bhajans and Yakshagana performance on Shivaratri night going on in the premises of Lord Mahalingeshwara temple at Kavoor here on Monday night, a delegation of temple managing committee members led by MLA, Dr Bharath Shetty, met city police commissioner, Sandeep Patil, and held discussions.

The MLA informed the commissioner that the devotees of the temple were hurt by this incident. He pointed out that Lord Mahalingeshwara temple at Kavoor happens to be a centre for religious activities in the region. He asked the commissioner to see that the incident of the kind which happened on Monday does not repeat, and sought action against the guilty.

The commissioner assured that he would make sure that such incidents do not happen again. He said he was not aware about the incident in advance. He stated that his department will see that steps would be taken to make sure that religious programmes, Yakshagana, Nema etc are allowed to be held without any problems.

Managing committee president, Ramanna Shetty Mugipu,chief priest, Srinivas Bhat, corporator, Deepak Poojary, BJP leader, Kishore Rai, and several others were present.
