Attavar and three others were taken into custody in the city as they were returning from a press meet at Woodlands Hotel.

DGP Ajay Kumar Singh refused to go into details about the arrests and called it a technical matter.

No Marriage, No Violence—Only Legal Measures

Just before his arrest Prasad Attavar said in a press meet, “We decided to drop our plan to arrange marriage for those participating in Valentines Day because some parties were taking undue advantage of our activity. But our message to the parents not to allow their children to participate in Valentine's Day celebration still holds good. Our actions will be within the legal parameter and no forcible or violent action will be taken".

Mr.Ramesh Nayak, Car Street, Mangalore, - I appriciate your view that you have expressed. I beleive that you are from Sarasvat Brahmin community and we have very few people from your community expressing these free and impartial opinions.

But I am happy that atleast there are few like you who think of civilised living and differences between - what is culture and what is not. Thank you for that. With same spirit that you have commented here - I want to express a view with you. If we look around we find so many jobless uncultured goons in Mangalore who just wait for an issue to spread communalism in Managlore and in our state. But if you keenly observe them you will not find the brains behind these acts on street.

In all cases if you have noticed, the brain behind such nasty cries is RSS and its affiliated or associated groups. And as I learned during my schooling and college days I had many class mates and friends from Saraswat Brahmin community - who are much in favour of RSS and other affiliated groups and thier activities. And tht too at a very small age level. Again if you look into the RSS baitaks most of the people leading RSS are from your community.

I am not blaming entire community but I am requesting you that please make an attempt and build a network of people of similar thought that you have expressed and make them understand that future generation and youth of your community do not fall prey for RSS. Its a humble request. Every wonderful things on earth have born out of initiative by single individual or small group of people, Because masses will always choose idiots to rule.

Nagesh Nayak.. Do you know what the percentage of minorities and Hindus in India is? If not roughly- 80% Hindu, 14% Muslim, 2.4% Christian, 2% Sikh, 0.7% Buddhist, 0.5% Jains, and 0.4% other….. Do you still thinking UPA won by only minority votes in last election? BJP has taken advantage of BD, ABVP SRS etc groups and they are side pillows for BJP to get votes in the name of Hindu religion. Please mind all Hindus are not fool. Upcoming election will give answer for us all.

Only way to gain popularity is this !!!They are not Desh Rakshaks but surely Desh Bakshaks!!!!

I don’t think jeans, tea shirt and leather belt is our culture. Is that Gentleman is wearing an imported wrist watch? We want these gentlemen to remain in police custody during all festivals to maintain law and order. I believe police is well aware of this to ease their work and avoid any kind of blame.

Thanks to Chidambaram, at last the state government and local administration has decided to act. But this is only part of the story, their brothren under various other names like BD etc. are still free to continue with their criminal and intimidating activities. If the government is really sincere about maintaining peace and harmony, it will take preventive measures to ensure every citizen has unhindered freedom guaranteed by our constitution and keeps those who do not have any respect to the constitution in the place they deserve - lock-up.
