Mangalore: Daiji Drama Contest : Manoranjan Manglur Presents 'Nirdhar'

Mangalore, Feb 15: With the staging of the second play in the All India Daiji Dubai Konkani Drama Competition being held at Don Bosco Hall, the contest seems to be getting tougher.
‘Manoranjan Manglur’ succeeded in presenting a spellbound performance on Sunday February 15, the second day of the competition.
‘Nirdhar’ written and directed by Nellu Permannur was staged on Sunday before an enthusiastic audience.
Melvyn Rodrigues, founder member, Daiji Dubai, welcomed the gathering. Stephen Quadras, who represented Manoranjan Manglur, lit the lamp and inaugurated the show.
Naveen Lobo, Bajal, and Titus Noronha, convener of the event, were present on the dais.
Nellu Permannur donned the main role of Issac in the drama while Annu Izai was Richie, Issac’s son. Jerome Moras was Edie, the servant at Issac’s house while Lena Crasta was Cellie and Mellu Valencia portrayed his son Vincy.
Felix Lasrado was Louie and Dimple Pinto was Reena, his daughter. Then there were Alwyn Veigas as Kistu, Abraham Pashan as Ladru, Denis Monteiro as Babu, Shaun Rodrigues as Anup, and Amora Monteiro as Anusha.
While Sateesh Surathkal gave the background score for the drama, Joel Pereira was the music director for the songs. Chaitanya Kala Arts were instrumental in setting the stage and Suresh Manjeshwar was the make-up man. Rajesh, Rukku, and Jayesh, were in charge of lighting and sound.
The third drama of the competition will be staged on Monday February 16 by Angelorche Kalakar. They will perform the Konkani translation of Tulu drama ‘Bayya Mallige’ by Sanjeeva Dandakeri. The translation has been done by Leslie Mogarnad and direction is by Maxim D’Souza, Angelore.
The final drama will be performed on Thursday February 19 and the prize distribution ceremony will be held on Sunday February 22 when about Rs 1.5 lac will be distributed as prizes.
