Mangaluru: Prof Edapadithaya to be the chancellor of Mangalore University?

Mangaluru, Mar 12: Governor of the state has finalized the name of the person for the post of new chancellor of Mangalore Univesity. Rumours are making rounds that Prof P Subramanya Edapadithaya of the commerce department of the university is selected for the position. But official confirmation is still awaited.

The term of the previous chancellor Prof K Byrappa was over in June 2018 and since then three people have taken the position as acting chancellors. It is learnt through reliable sources that the Search Committee that was set up to select the new chancellor had recommended three names of Prof Narayan Badiyadka, of the chemistry department of the university, Prof P Edapadithaya of commerce department and former registrar of agricultural university Prof M B Rajegowda. Out of this, the sources say that, the governor has finalized the name of Prof P S Edapadithaya.

If this information turns out to be true, then Prof Edapadithaya will be the first person of Mangalore Universtiy origin who will be occupying the position of Chancellor. Right from the inception of Mangalore University, till date, none of the Mangalore University origin person has got the chance to the chancellor of the university.
