Mangalore, Feb 17: It was a day with a difference at the Daiji Dubai All India Konkani Drama Competition being held at the Don Bosco Hall on Tuesday, February 17.

The fourth entry in the competition, `Fulak Soirik Zalea' staged by the thespians of `Kutam Konkani Weekly' Mumbai , brought the audience down with roaring laughter right through the performance .  The use of  rich Konkani language also added charm .

The play was written and directed by Joachim D'Souza ,well known in the Konkani arena as Joker Cascia.



















































CGS Taccode, Richie Pereira, Catherine Rodrigues, H M Pernal, Daya Victor Lobo and William Pais are the distinguished panel of judges for this prestigious drama competition wherein almost Rs 1.5 lacs is as at stake for the winners.

`Fulak Soirik Zalea' is a plot completely woven around a young girl `Fula' ( Philomena) which was ably played by Florine Mathias, Kanajar.  Daniel, Fula's uncle, a retired shipman ,was played by Robert Noronha, Kallianpur and Irene Rodrigues, Taccode was Winnie - Daniel's wife.

Edwin Banz (Edie), Suraj Machado, Shaktinagar (Rony),  Hilda D'Souza, Pangla (Rita) and  Anil Pinto, Fermai (Richcha) all played effective roles in the play. 

Shabari Sounds provided sound and lights for the whole drama.

Melvyn Rodrigues, founder member, Daiji Dubai welcomed the gathering. The  show was inaugurated by Joker Cascia, sub-editor, Kutam Konkani Weekly.  William Kumar, Kinnigoli, member, editorial board, Kutam Weekly and Titus Noronha, Convener ,were present on the occasion.

The fifth drama of the competition `Tension Free' will be staged on Wednesday, February 18 at 6 pm.  The play has been written and directed by Rajay Pawar, Goa and is being presented by Sri Nagesh Maharudr, Ponda, Goa.

    great pics daiji and they should make dvd recording and put it in market in mangalore and gulf so we can view and injoy and specially in saudi arabia it will benifit for you and us.
