Mangalore, Feb 18: Gopal B Hosur took charge as the inspector general of police (IGP) of Western Range at his office here on Wednesday February 18.
Speaking to media persons after taking charge from IGP Ashit Prasad, IGP Gopal Hosur said that the police department is ready to face naxalism, terrorism, and communal conspiracy. “Merely one per cent of people create tension in society. Stringent action will be taken against violators of the law of the land. Moral policing is violation of law”, he said.
He said that the police department would never show any kind of soft policy towards terrorism. Hosur added that he would hold discussions with anti-naxal forces to control the naxal menace. The department will also curb the activities of the underworld.
Hosur had joined the police department as deputy superintendent of police in Arasikere in 1984. He has served as superintendent of police in the anti-Veerappan special squad in 1994.
