Mangalore: Youth Cong Plans to File Case Against Mayor Hosabettu

Mangalore, Feb 24: Youth Congress District President Bondala Jagannath Shetty has said that the party is contemplating over filing cases against Mangalore Mayor Ganesh Hosabettu and others in Delhi and Hyderabad. Addressing media persons here on Monday, he said cases would be filed against the statements of Hosabettu “who had said that the Union Minister Renuka Chowdhury is mentally imbalanced”.

It can be mentioned here that Mayor Hosabettu and others had appealed the court to ask the police to file a case against Chowdhury on her statements of “Mangalore has been Talibanised” etc in the aftermath of pub attack by Sri Rama Sene activists in January, as per which Mangalore Rural Police registered an FIR against the Union Minister on February 20.
Shetty alleged that Hosabettu himself is responsible for the pub attack incident.“The Mayor should have controlled the unlicensed pubs functioning in the city. If such pubs are attacked and if the general public are harmed, he is directly responsible for the same,” he said.
Instead of filing case against Chowdhury, Hosabettu should have thought in how many criminal cases he had involved.
“By filing case against Chowdhury, the BJP has continued its anti-women policy,” he criticised.
Alleging that advocate P P Hegde is getting “cheap mileage in the pretext of filing a case against a woman”, Shetty said, if Hegde is so concerned about the unconstitutional acts, let him fight against such acts committed by BJP leaders themselves. “The BJP has dishonoured the nation by hoisting the National Flag in the midnight,” he complained. However, when it was brought into his notice that the Union government itself had instructed to hoist National Flag during midnight on August 14 to commemorate the golden jubilee of Indian independence, he said he was not aware of the order.
District Youth Congress president-elect Arun, office bearers T K Sudheer, Herbert and Abhilash were present in the press meet.
