Belagavi, Mar 27: Personnel of Haroogeri police station arrested four teachers on the allegation of helping SSLC students appearing for mathematics examinations to copy the answers.

M R Magdum, deputy principal of HVH composite PU college, and assistant teachers, D P Kapasi, A B Patil and teacher of Alakanur government high school, P B Palayya, stand arrested.

A video showing the accused teachers collecting answers and providing them to the students during the general mathematics examination at the SSLC examination centre at HVH composite PU college had become viral. Block education officer, H A Bhajantri, who visited the centre, had filed complaint against the four teachers on the basis of the video footage in Haroogeri police station on Monday itself, said district superintendent of police, Sudheeerkumar Reddy.

Deputy director of public instruction, Chikkodi, M G Dasar, pointed out that teacher P B Palayya, had violated the rule which says that subject teachers should stay away from examination centres during specific examinations. He said that the department has considered this case seriously and ordered suspension of teachers accused of malpractice.
