Mangaluru: Cricket betting – two arrested , Rs 3.7 lac seized

Mangaluru, Mar 30: In a press briefing here on Saturday, March 30, police commissioner Sandeep Patil informed that third case on cricket betting was registered in city and police arrested two persons. The police personnel also seized Rs 3, 69,000 from the arrested persons.

"We have already taken strict measures to prevent cricket betting in city and closely monitoring the situation especially during the IPL season. As per information some people are involving in cricket betting in some centers and online. But police have all arrangements to nab them and put behind the bars,” he added.

Speaking about the election preparations, he said, "Total 1533 cases stand registered relating to violation of model code of conduct. 17 criminals have been sent out from the district. We have Installed 21 check posts around the city and total cash Rs13,79,000 has been seized from various persons and investigations are going on,”

“1 CRPF platoon has already arrived in the city and it conducted route march in 29 sensitive areas. Police have issued 2996 warrants against criminals. Out of 2011 licensed weapons 1953 have been deposited at the police center and 58 weapons have been given relaxation,” he added.

Apart from this, police department has already trained all officials and personnel regarding election duties.
