Mangaluru, Mar 31: Some places in Karnataka coast received rainfall on Saturday March 30 evening.

Subramanya, Ajekar near Karkala, Naravi and nearby places got rain at around 4 pm on Saturday. Rain for about half an hour was experienced in places like Andaru, Shirlalu, Kervashe, Kaduhole, Muniyal etc. Hirgana area got only a drizzle.

The rain was accompanied by lightning and thunder. Power supply to several areas was severed during this period. These areas had been parched as there have been no rains since the last five months. Several villages were facing drinking water shortage and this rain has brought them some relief.

The district has been experiencing heat wave since some days with temperatures reaching the highest point of 35 degree Celsius. As per predictions, some areas in coastal Karnataka will receive rainfall during the next two days.

During the 24-hour ending Saturday morning, places like Balehonnur, Hirekeroor, Haveri and Arasalu received about two cm of rainfall with some other places getting one cm rainfall.

People have been complaining about the temperature in the coast which was recorded between 25 and 35 degrees Celsius being the lowest and highest. Ballari registered highest temperature of 42 degree Celsius.
